Thanks for reading more about us! This page is a little redundant for most of you, at least for now, as most of you already know us but who knows…maybe you’ll learn something new.
We are Chris and Brian. We met in 2003 and both knew after a few short weeks, he’s the one! We built our home in 2007, married in 2011 and here we are in 2019 retired, sold everything and travelling full time with the intention to settle down in a few years (or when we get tired of travelling) in Mexico.

I’m 50 (when did that happen?), born in Lethbridge, Alberta and raised in Calgary. After graduating from Sir Winston Churchill High School, I went to SAIT in the Cinema, Television, Stage and Radio Arts program. While I learned what I think were some useful people and writing skills, it was clear that the industries were not for me, so chose to leave school and work full time. After careers in a few different fields, including hospitality, telecommunication, HR and research, my final years of employment were in corporate relocation. This last career coincidentally came at a time that we were starting to seriously discuss expatriating to somewhere warmer and slower, and many bits of information I picked up at work have turned out to be very useful both in planning as well as (hopefully) knowing some pitfalls to watch out for. Because I never really knew or figured out what I wanted to be “when I grew up”, my sass answer when asked was “I want to be retired”. Now here we are, retired, and much sooner than expected, so now the question becomes “what do I want to be when I’m retired”. Our travels will help to start to answer that question, and I’m willing to bet that the answer will be something unexpected.

I’m 44, born and raised in Calgary. Went to high school at James Fowler, like my Mom and Sister, and I graduated in 1992. I then took a year off and went to SAIT in 2007, ok a year turned into 15, where I enrolled in a 6 month fast track Network Technician program. During my hiatus from text book education after high school I worked various jobs, did short stints in retail and a call centre then got a part time job with Bridge Brand Food Services. I started in their warehouse and eventually moved into a service rep role driving a tractor trailer. Eleven years later the physically demanding labor started to take its toll and we decided I could take time off and go back to school. I wanted to pursue something technology related and SAIT was the right fit. After I graduated with a couple technical certifications I received a couple of job offers and decided to work for a small IT company to gain experience. When the small IT company was acquired by a large IT company (HP) I survived the acquisition but it wasn’t a good long term fit. I moved on to another IT job for MD Physician services who was later acquired by TELUS. I continued in a technical role until mid 2018 when I started managing projects. This is where my working for someone else career ends and the next phase of our life begins.
