We had mixed emotions of leaving our desert oasis and heading down the Pacific Coast Highway. When we were booking accomodations and planning the route we tried to keep the drives fairly short so we’d have plenty of time to stop and gawk and to get to see the destination of the day during daylight. The drive to Santa Barbara from Palm Springs was about 4 hours and was mostly just driving to get there, we skirted around Los Angeles as we didn’t have any desire to make it an overnight stop.
We had an “oh wow, we’ve missed the ocean” moment when we first saw the Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica and shortly after stopped at Dukes in Malibu for lunch with a view. It was a beautiful spot but didn’t doddle for too long as we wanted to get to Santa Barbara 🍷.
Well maybe one stop 😉
I don’t have any pics of Santa Barbara 😱. We arrived nice and early and checked in to our super cute Motel, the Marina Beach Motel, and were on our way for a quick walk to the Pier, then a wine tasting at Kunin Wines and supper. We’d been to Santa Barbara in 2016 on a Cruise with friends Nicole and Roy, and would you believe I don’t have many pictures from then either…I guess we need to go back 😉. Here’s a couple of pics from the cruise.
