is it happy hour yet?

Is it happy hour yet?  We’d often find ourselves asking this question..almost daily.  While it was nice to be central to so many great restaurants, it was maybe a little too easy to go out for a “couple” drinks.  One of our favourites that required a couple of visits was Two Penny.  Food was outstanding and they had one of our current favourite beers, Fahr Away Hefeweizen, on tap.  During Happy Hour the beer of the day is served in a tea pot!  Any beef eaters wanna go?  Our server said the ginger beef cooks for something like 30 hours!  We also thoroughly enjoyed Raw Bar at Hotel Arts, all small plates were half price during happy hour and so delicious, $5 martini’s weren’t bad either.  Rose and Crown’s happy hour has all drinks, yes every drink on the menu, for $5.  Worthy of a stop for a pint of Guiness if you happen to be walking by.  Our favourite lunch spot, almost of all time, is Meat and Bread.  We fell in love with Meat and Bread in Vancouver and it is usually our first stop whenever we go.  When they opened a location in Calgary we were overjoyed.  Get a porcheta sandwich, you won’t be dissapointed.  Our favourite cocktail bar, Proof, was in the ground floor of our building.  Cocktail menu is amazing, I always get a Sazerac.  It’s not on the menu but theirs is my favourite and when I order it somewhere else I’m usually disappointed.  The bartenders (cocktail artists?) are super talented.  Feel like something off menu, just ask.  Want them to surprise you, they will make you something yummy based on a flavour profile or spirit you prefer.  We did this a couple of times and they wowed me both times.

Check out the pics below, I don’t always remember to take a pic in the moment but getting better.  Expand the map, move it around…go on an impromptu happy hour crawl :).
