touring Seattle

We began the day with a plan of visiting the Space Needle, the Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Amazon Spheres and Pike Place Market. Our first stop was the Space Needle, kind of like the Calgary Tower, was the tallest of it’s day but is now dwarfed by most modern skyscrapers although the views of the city, Elliot Bay and Puget Sound beyond were pretty amazing.

The Museum of Pop Culture, we didn’t go but the building was super cool!

The second stop was the Chihuly Garden and Glass, we basically went because it was number 1 on Trip Advisor and we bought a multi attraction ticket combined with the Space Needle and the Museum of Flight…I think this turned out to be the highlight though. The Glass is amazing, seeing it in person is mind blowing that a human created this stuff…stupid good and a definite visit if you find yourself in Seattle :).

The first exhibit lulls you into a feeling of meh! Wait for it…
the airstream holds the ovens for the demo area, pretty cool :).
For sale in the gift shop, $8500 and was a fraction of the size of those in the gallery.

On the way to Pike Place Market we detoured to see the Amazon Spheres…Amazon, you have too much money but I love you 🙂

Pike Place Market was huge, if you want it, you can probably find it here. We didn’t do any shopping, just wandered…had a beer and a snack :).

The original Starbucks across the street
The gum wall…why!?!?

I’ve never made it beyond the light rail train maintenance building and the airport, so appreciate seeing some of the sights. I need to go back to explore that city. Thanks for sharing, great pics!
